Avaliação dos efeitos dos parâmetros de manufatura aditiva sobre a rugosidade de modelos ortodônticos produzidos por ABS

Resumo

Additive Manufacturing (AM) has a strong impact on the dental area, offering advantages in productivity, cost and customization of various products. Among the MA techniques, fused deposition modeling (FDM) has great application in the production of orthodontic models (OM) when compared to traditional techniques. However, the roughness of the OM produced by FDM is higher when compared to the pieces produced in plaster. This fact leads us to try to understand if the manufacturing parameters via FDM have an influence on the roughness. For this, a response surface model was applied in the development, improvement and optimization of the production process of orthodontic models of the Canine, Incisive and Molar elements, using ABS filament. For the optimization of the model, parameters of Extruder Nozzle Diameter, Layer Height and Filling Percentage were combined, having as response variable, the Printing Time, the Mass and the Roughness. Among the results obtained, it was verified that the optimal parameters for the production of the OMs are the Diameter of the Extruder Nozzle in 0.4 mm, Height of the Layer in 0.24 mm and 40 % of filling, resulting in 53 minutes of printing, 14.35 g of mass and 1.711μM of Roughness. The height of the layer (CA) is the factor of greatest influence on the roughness of the incisive element. For the canine and molar elements, the Diameter of the Extruder Nozzle is the factor with the greatest influence on roughness. Thus, when aiming at the best control of roughness in OM produced via MA, parameters such as layer height, diameter of the extruder nozzle and percentage of filling should be controlled.
