Restrições alimentares na Amazônia: um estudo na vila de Terra Nova do Careiro da Várzea - Amazonas

Abstract

This work presents an analysis about the alimentary restrictions in the community of New Earth, in the municipal district of Careiro of Várzea, State of Amazon. The study intends context that way the limitations and alimentary prohibitions order the daily experience in the world of the Amazon populations in its culture environment. Among the lifted up hypotheses were noticed that the limitation of the natural resources imposed by the environment, the forms of the community s social bedding, the lay and political sanctions of the widest society, the implications of economic order, as well as the preferences and individual tastes are responsible factors for the existence of the alimentary restrictions. The research stands out that the discussions concerning these restrictions are important to understand the behavior of the different human societies and its relationship with the lived atmosphere. The objectives that they address the present study he/she/it expresses in it analyzes it in the way the alimentary taboos they affect the life of the Amazon populations and its relationship with the nature. The methodology based on an investigation ethnographic with the intention of trying to unmask the processes of choice of the food for the population. The place of the field research was in a small community of farmers and fishermen cail Vile of New Earth, located in the island belonging to the municipal district of Careiro of Várzea in the State of Amazon. The procedure method was the monograph and the used techniques went to observant participation and the life histories, interviews and questionnaires. The results showed that the habits alimentary places are influenced and limited by the systems of local restrictions, for the alternation of the natural resources and of the values of the market, for legal and political impositions of the society, besides the different symbolic representations of the studied population.
