Resumo
This research seeks to analyze the journalistic and cultural trajectory of Jaber Xaud, having as sources the analysis of narratives, oral memorials, him, family members and co-workers. These are reports that speak to other documents, such as: newspapers, photographs, private memories of those who lived the golden period of their audience programs between the 1960s and 1970s. This period is justified by its historicalcultural relevance within a strategy of border policies adopted by the military regime and the responsibility of executing them to the bionic governors and, seeking in the narratives of memorial memories a more particularized orality that provides the regional collective memory with new elements for a deeper debate, within the framework proposed under the historical and cultural aspects. Throughout this research, the constituent elements of Roraima's political magnetism were perceived in their constant phenomena of attraction and repulsion present in the narrative of some interviewees, whether in the avoidance of responding or in a timely argumentative neutrality. Therefore, our main objective is to understand the role of journalist Jaber Xaud in the cultural and political scene in Roraima from the 1960s to the 1970s. The relational web woven by the command groups in Roraima, constituted by agents that form recognized groups of power and command comes from the so-called pioneer families. These are family groups that occupied urban spaces in Boa Vista in the 1940s with a marked social demarcation of the urban space occupied as a stage for the relational dynamics of political and public life, also occupying the space for recreation and entertainment of these groups. The relevance of discussing the trajectory of Jaber Xaud, in culture and journalism, is an analytical angle on the survival of local command groups, and how mass culture becomes a survival tool with its own regional peculiarities in this northern region of the Amazon.
