Banco de termos da linguagem especial de enfermagem para a prática junto a povos indígenas no contexto amazônico

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: In the context of indigenous health, the nurse, as a member of the multidisciplinary team, has a fundamental role in the development of actions and interventions of direct and indirect assistance in the prevention of diseases and in the maintenance, rehabilitation and promotion of health to individuals, families and groups. The lack of a common vocabulary for nursing professionals who work with indigenous peoples is one of the major challenges with regard to documenting the care provided. OBJECTIVES: The general objective of this work was to build a bank of terms from the special language of nursing for practice with indigenous peoples in the Amazonian context, and the specific objectives were: to classify the terms identified in the text and in the reports of nurses in the focus groups as specific and non-specific terms of nursing language; discuss the different forms of language used by nurses who work in indigenous health; and build a glossary of the special language of nursing for practice with indigenous peoples in the Amazonian context. METHOD: This is an exploratory-descriptive study with a quantitative approach, carried out in the seven Special Indigenous Health Districts of Amazonas, from June to December 2022. Data were collected from 4,166 medical records and other documents in the area, as well as as in the transcription corpus of seven focus groups, with 76 nurses. Data were synthesized in three stages: pre- processing, which included data preparation; processing, carried out by an automated tool; and post-processing, which included the exclusion of symbologies and isolated articles, quantification of repetitions, categorization of preferred terms and attachments, classification into specific and non-specific nursing language, normalization, description of acronyms and abbreviations and analysis of terms found. RESULTS: 6,662 simple and compound terms were obtained, with 22,337 repetitions. After removing redundancies and normalizing, the result was 3,531. Of these, 764 were defined as preferred terms specific to the area of nursing and 2,767 as attached terms. In the Glossary of Special Nursing Language for Practice with Indigenous Peoples in the Amazon Context, 764 terms with their definitions are highlighted. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Carrying out this study allowed exploring and knowing the terms used by nurses who work with the indigenous population in the Amazonian context, therefore, it may contribute to the future development of statements of diagnoses/results and nursing interventions, as well as to the unification of the professional language of nurses in the field of indigenous health.
