Resumo
Seeking to provide improvements in the formation of the hybrid layer and dentin adhesion, basic studies that an emulsion based on Copaifera multijuga Hayne oil can improve the formation of the hybrid layer and be effective in removing debris, in addition to having antiproteolytic activity, filled in a biomodifying agent for dentin adhesion. This work aimed to analyze the elastic response of dentin to biomodification of the organic matrix with the use of an emulsion based on copaiba oil. Extracted healthy human third molars were used to prepare the specimens, following dimensions 0.5 mm x 1.7 mm x 7 mm, totaling = 90 reais. These specimens were immersed in a 10% phosphoric acid solution for a period of 5 hours, under constant restoring and later radiographed to assess whether there was complete dentin demineralization. The samples were tested without any treatment (baseline), later, they were immersed in their respective solutions according to the groups: GC1 (distilled water); GEC (Copaíba oil-based emulsion); GCLX (Chlorhexidine Digluconate 2%) for different immersion time evaluations (30 and 60 minutes). The modulus of elasticity (ME) was evaluated immediately after biomodification and at 3, 7 and 14 days after treatment. Samples were stored in artificial saliva at 37o C, during the period between assessments. The specimens were tested in 3-point bending with a 5 N load cell mounted on a universal testing machine at a speed of 0.5 mm/min, values were expressed in megapascals (MPa). The assumption of the variable's normal distribution was evaluated by the Shapiro-Wilk test (p < 0.05). Data were subjected to statistical analysis using a mixed parametric three-way ANOVA test for independent and dependent samples. To identify which pairs of means differed from each other, for the interaction between the factors and for the moments evaluated, a multiple comparison of means with Bonferroni correction was carried out with the PAWS Statics software (v. 21, SPSS Inc, Chicado, IL). All groups showed a decrease in elastic modulus over time. The specimens immersed in the 10% EC solution showed the highest values after 3 and 7 days, being statistically significant when compared with after the biomodification and 14 days and between the Distilled Water and Chlorhexidine Digluconate 2% solutions in the same period (3 and 7 days). It was concluded that the treatment of collagen with all test substances in 30 and 60 min of immersion, immediately reduced the ME, however the EC group was the one with the highest ME mean values, promoting greater stability over 14 days of storage.
