Resumo

This research looked at artistic painting in the classroom with the theme of indigenous cultural expression in the Upper Rio Negro, as well as the process of teaching, learning and creating in the arts, as guaranteed by the laws governing education. It was based on Ana Mae Barbosa's triangular approach and Michel Thiollent's action research methodology. It involved the participants in proposing and seeking solutions with differentiated knowledge about culture and learning in action in order to solve the problems faced in the day-to-day running of art classes in various elementary school grades at the Dom Miguel Alagna Indigenous Municipal School in São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Amazonas. The work resulted in the production of 20 artistic paintings made using the acrylic on canvas technique, produced by the students.
