Proposta de aplicação da metodologia DMAIC para melhoria de um processo no setor de transporte de uma instituição federal de ensino superior

Resumo

The DMAIC methodology (define, measure, analyze, improve and control) emerged in the mid-eighties at the Motorola company. It is a tool, derived from Six Sigma, whose objective is to improve organizational processes, making them more efficient. Since its creation, the tool has been widely used in the private sector by different companies: General Electric, American Express, Johnson and Johnson, Caterpillar, Cummins and Bank of America. Despite this, there are few works found in the literature that deal with the application of the methodology in the public sphere. Based on this premise, this work aims to propose the use of the DMAIC tool to improve the fuel consumption efficiency of the vehicle fleet of the Transport Coordination of a Federal Higher Education Institution. This is a descriptive and exploratory research, based on a case study, whose methodological steps followed the five parts of the DMAIC tool implementation: definition, measurement, analysis, improvement and control of the process. The results of the application pointed to the need to implement a training program for drivers, mainly due to the finding of inappropriate behavior in traffic. In addition, it is observed that the average age of the Coordination's vehicle fleet is greater than 14 years, extrapolating the time of use indicated by the institution itself. Furthermore, it was found that the fleet control and management tool needs to be improved, considering that the current control takes place through a spreadsheet, being susceptible to deletion, malware attacked and data inconsistency. Therefore, an action plan was created based on the use of the tool in order to optimize the Transport Coordination's fuel consumption process.
