Saúde, doença e natureza: o olhar da comunidade do Pau Rosa no assentamento Tarumã Mirim, município de Manaus - Amazonas

Abstract

The objective of the present work is to understand the glance of Pau Rosa community, located in a rural area, about 30 km of Manaus, Amazonas, about the health/disease process and its relationship with the nature. It is a qualitative research which has the presupposition that the health and the disease are socially and culturally built (Langdon, 1995). The field work was composed of observations and collect of narratives. The data were collected in three moments: January of 2007, July to October of 2007, and in January/February of 2008. The method of data analysis had three stages or chronological poles in agreement with Bardin (2004). The results show that the nature and the health/disease/cure process are linked one to each other and maintain a constant bond, in which the nature is supplying as a source of aid and safety or bringing about diseases. Therefore, it was possible to verify that the relationship between the nature and the health/disease process is composed in a universe of reciprocities.
