Resumo
This paper seeks to analyze the constitution of policies to combat malaria in the city
manaus in the period between 1897 and 1920. To this end, we will observe how the disease will gaining visibility in the discourse of rulers and doctors-sanitists as their
epidemics occur the moment urban reforms are carried out in the urban perimeter
of the city. In the discourses it is possible to observe that the understanding of the disease will change over time, because at the turn of the 19th century to the 20th century, under the
influences of medical climatology, elements of nature such as igarapés and vegetation
were in evidence as causing the disease. Over the years, understanding
malaria will change from the discovery of the Anopheles mosquito as a vector of
sickness. On the other hand, this will not represent the disposal of previously existing ideas.
These various interpretations will guide a specific prophylaxis program to combat
disease exposed in Health Laws and Regulations and Laying Codes that will be
analyzed here considering their actors and discourses involved.
