Resumo

The management of industrial solid waste is a problem inherent in all production processes. Even with the Brazilian legislation initiative and regulatory standards, environmentally safe waste treatment still encounters managerial, technical and economic barriers. In the case of the Polo Industrial Manaus (PIM), there is a diversified production of solid waste, including recyclables which require special attention because of their value. In order to promote the sustainable development of industrial production in the Amazon, this research is aimed at characterizing the treatability of plastic waste produced by Polo Industrial Manaus industries and promoting the sustainability of treatment and disposal processes. The proposal is to offer subsidies in order that the environmental problem be addressed based on the management system in a closed cycle "from cradle to grave", industrial management action considered from production to final disposal. A survey of solid waste management at PIM was carried out using an exploratory and descriptive methodology; identifying the influence of industrialization in the process of analyzing the potential of plastic resins and plastic recycling markets. Through the SWOT matrix positives and negatives of the local market were identified. With focus on sustainability, the environmental aspects and impacts of plastic waste treatment systems used in Manaus including: landfill provision, mechanical recycling and incineration were evaluated. As for technological innovation and sustainable alternatives for the treatment and disposal of plastic waste, PIM recommended the use of Production-Plus-Clean, Waste Bag, Reverse Logistics and Energy Recovery
