"Produzido no polo marginal de Manaus" : uma etnografia da profissionalização do RAP

Resumo

This research adopts an ethnographic approach to investigate the professionalization process of RAP among its practitioners in Manaus. The hypothesis proposed is that the recognition of RAP as a globally produced and distributed musical genre has solidified an industry centered around the music, driving a market of "symbolic goods." The arrival of this movement in Manaus has led many young people to pursue careers in RAP, aiming to make a living from it. Moving beyond the common view that sees the spread of entrepreneurship as a distortion of RAP practices, the study seeks to understand the challenges and prospects of the work they develop in the fields of art and culture. The research is grounded in the theoretical contributions of Gilberto Velho (2003), for understanding personal projects and the field of possibilities; Erving Goffman (1988), in his approach to stigma and social identity; and Pierre Bourdieu (2005), in understanding RAP as part of the market of symbolic goods and the power dynamics associated with it.
