Resumo
The scientific educational scenario experienced by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) is a competitive environment marked by the decision-making of their managers. These decisions require elements that can clearly reflect their objectives. In this context, Scientific Initiation is an instrument that contributes to the continuous training and qualification of the professionals trained at these institutions. The aim of this research was initially to carry out a documentary analysis of the history of submissions to the Institutional Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC) at ISB, and then to apply a questionnaire to students with projects approved in 2019 to 2020, in order to understand the impact of this program on the training and professional qualification of academics. The methodology used was a bibliographic and documentary study, exploratory-descriptive and qualitative and quantitative in nature. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire with open and closed questions, applied to PIBIC participants with projects approved during the study period under analysis. The results of the research show an average increase of 93.36% in submissions and a significant increase in approvals, as well as an increase in the number of masters and doctors with respective averages of 5.46 per year and 11.38 per year. Qualitatively, the PIBIC's collaboration in the professional training of students between 2019 and 2020 at the ISB is evidenced by the theoretical and practical alignment that the program presented through the perspective and point of view of the participants through subjective aspects emanating from the answers presented in the data collection instrument adopted. Subsequently, further research may provide evidence or not of this public policy, from the perspective of retaining teachers in the IFES in the interior of Amazonas.
