Mudanças de hábitos no imaginário amazônico: a moda, influência cultural francesa em Manaus entre os séculos XIX e XX

Abstract

This thesis proposes identify the influences from the last decades of the late nineteen century as well as the changes from the early twentieth century, in Manaus. At first, the process of modernization of this town was on the margins of European imitation and the imaginary of the Paris das Selvas. Urban advances used to give to the city cosmopolitan airs. And inspiration to its new habits of the bourgeoisie, which showed and determined, mostly, a relationship of economic power provided by the extractive economy, among other sources. In the historical trajectory of our research, we faced with several social phenomena that made us analyze the phenomena of fashion. Considering singularities that framed the research itself, fashion is now highlighted in the ebb and flow of our investigative work. Along the way between basting and scraps we were allowed to move between social spheres of fashion in order to get the enchantment of catwalk. We also consider the importance of signs of French cultural influence to write one more page of the sketch of the time: fashion.
