Solo criado: estudo sobre o processo de verticalização em Manaus - AM

Abstract

The process of verticalization of cities has its genesis from urbanization associated with industrialization. It takes place in different cities around the globe, having its own characteristics from different regions, architectural concepts and the use of techniques for the production of these geographic objects. In Brazil, verticalization is spread in the cities mainly associated with housing use by the middle class, which finds in this form of collective housing a way to stay close to the center and the consolidated structures areas considering the expansion process of Brazilian cities. In this study, issues related to analyzing the verticalization process in the Brazilian city of Manaus are listed from the perspective of urban geography and the production of urban space. In order to achieve success regarding this discussion, primordial concepts of geography are presented in the first chapter, these being the analytical category of space, the conceptual evaluation of “city” and “urban” and some of the spatial practices of the producing agents of urban space. In the second chapter, there is a focus on the historical part of how Brazilian urbanization takes place in order to understand the impacts of that period on cities in the country, generating the space where verticalization came to materialize, in addition there is a presentation to respect to aspects of the housing issue in Brazil, since one of the objectives of the research is related to understanding the impact of the verticalization process on the housing issue both in Brazilian cities in general, and in Manaus. The third chapter deals with the verticalization process itself, for this, it is divided into four parts: the first makes a literature review on the verticalization theme, the second discusses legal aspects of the city's production that can influence or influence directly in the process, the third part discusses the oldest and most consolidated verticalization axis in the city and the fourth part deals with the typologies of vertical products in areas of expansion of the city (the “new axes”), denoting the action of the state and entrepreneurs real estate. In this way, each axis of verticalization is associated with a certain period of growth and production in the city, reaching the moment of coexistence between the old and the new.
