Oficinas de reeducação ambiental como processo substitutivo de penas por crimes ambientais na cidade de Manaus - Amazonas

Abstract

The Environmental Re-education workshops are educational practices that aim to prevent recurrence of environmental crimes in the Amazonas. In this study, we analyzed the trajectory of these workshops, its effectiveness as a substitute process sentences for environmental crimes, pedagogical practices and the social and emotional aspects involved in environmental education process. The research is characterized as a descriptive and analytical study of qualitative approach. primary data collected in the field were analyzed, through participant observation, semi-structured interviews and longitudinal panel and secondary data obtained from documents, files and databases at the Núcleo de Educação Ambiental do IBAMA (NEA / IBAMA-AM) and Vara Especializada do Meio Ambiente e Questões Agrárias (VEMAQA / TJAM). The study included 89 adult subjects (18 years), of both sexes, as follows: 70 students; 9 speakers; 6 4 managers and coordinators. According to the results, the Environmental Re-education workshops are effective as a penal alternative, innovative judicial point of view, and pioneers in Brasil as a differentiated form of environmental education. The audience of workshops, composed of people who have committed crimes against the environment in the Amazonas, is attended space conducive to the development of environmental citizenship. The geographical distribution of environmental crimes committed by participants covers all areas, however points higher incidence in the eastern part of the city of Manaus. The teaching and learning process adopted for the acquisition of new values and knowledge, the intention of students to disseminate the acquired knowledge and the emotional and social aspects reiterate the important role played by the Environmental Reeducation workshops as an effective mechanism and successful of implementation of environmental education as restrictive sanction rights in cases of environmental crimes and social reintegration, in the last 11 years in the city of Manaus.
