Resumo

What does performance contribute to the deconstruction of violence against women? The power that exists in the performance “The artist is present” by Marina Abramović is, in this research, the meeting link between art teaching and women for the awareness of their own lives in the face of new possibilities and postures for this deconstruction. Performance, therefore, is used here to work on issues related to gender violence in the classroom. The work of the Serbian artist helps us understand how the relationships between a teacher of the art component using the language of performance with her students, in face of the presence, or sharing of affective states, can occur in the encounter with each other. The methodology adopted in this research was based on an autoethnographic study through daily observation and recording, prioritizing the narrative as a strategy relating Abramović performance, my experiences as a performing artist and the experiences of students/artists in performances carried out in a high school. Regarding the methodology, I also emphasize that I used performative writing as a welcoming instrument, believing that this writing has the power to bring the reader closer to such a sensitive topic. With regard to data collection, logbooks and materials written by the students during classes were used in this research. About the theoretical framework used, I highlight the brilliant work of the writer Ana Mae Barbosa and her fight for the protagonism of women in art teaching in Brazil.
