Abstract

“Erotic Witchcraft: the Love spells reported at the time of the Visitation of the Holy Office to the State Grão-Pará (1763-1769)” tries to relate from inquisitorial sources aspects of lovemaking population of Pará with the magical religious universe by manipulating spell and prayers for Love and sexual purposes trough various generated during the Visitation of the Holy Office to the State of Grão-Pará between the yers 1763-1769. Through close reading of their statements we hear from history of these men and women who are "separated" from the Christian doctrine of superstitious practices are used in an attempt to achieve their goals: the love of his “love" and that by these practices responded proceedings before the Court of the Holy Office .
