Resumo

This dissertation addresses the pedagogical practices developed at the Cultural Center of Tikuna and ethnic identity of their students in the urban context of the city of Manaus. It is mainly aimed to understand and analyze the extent to which teaching practices developed there contribute to the affirmation or redefinition of ethnic identity of their students. So we had as theoretical and methodological position phenomenology, hermeneutics and dialogic. We used the case study method and procedure. The work was developed through literature and field research, as well as direct observation and semi-structured interviews. The data collected were given a qualitative approach. From this perspective, the dialogue between the goals, the foundational theories and data collected in the field, enabled us to see that: In the pedagogical practices carried out predominantly expository and monotonous lessons revealing evidence of a traditional education. There is a disconnect between the planning done through pedagogical project and the concret practices. Such practices have contributed to the redefinition of ethnic identity of students in their knouledge of Tikuna culture, especially through the mother tongue learning, however, was not possible to see significant resonances in question the assertion of ethnic identity of these students in formal schools where too study, it is evidently a silencing process of ethnic identity in this context.
