Arte e Interculturalidade: as interações interculturais e as estratégias de resistência estético-expressivas dos artistas visuais insubmissos na cidade de Manaus

Abstract

The present study seeks a possible interpretation of the experiences of intercultural interactions constructed between visual artists with an unsubmissive aesthetic-expressive proposition in the city of Manaus, in which we consider the panorama constructed by cultural operators in their knowledge exchange relationships that favor intercultural dialogue in a decolonial perspective. We begin by discussing the ideas of coloniality, interculturality and art in a decolonial perspective in the artistic, social and cultural trajectory of Amazonas, particularly that triggered by the constitution of the city of Manaus. This is an observational and comparative study on the processes of sociocultural interaction and the aesthetic-expressive resistance strategies of unsubmissive visual artists in the city of Manaus in the year 2023. Initially we debate the implications and consequences of Western thought for the culture of Amazon and for visual artistic production in the city of Manaus. We then highlight the historical interpretations of art, mainly the importance of indigenous art in thinking about an unsubmissive art in the city of Manaus. Next, we present some intercultural interaction experiences of visual artists proposing unsubmissive visual cultures and their aesthetic-expressive resistance strategies from a decolonial perspective. Ending with a reflection on unsubmissive art as a form of struggle for the right to existence. Finally, we hope to open paths for reflection on thoughts and practices of a possible unsubmissive art, seeking to outline a panorama to locate it in the context of the city of Manaus.
