Variáveis que concorrem para a evasão em uma instituição de ensino superior privada em Manaus

Abstract

An evasion in higher education is a problem that is not only Brazilian, but of the whole world. Several Studies and Research Annually Detected that the risk factors related to evasion are the same and that, sometimes, are not of control of the Institutions of Higher Education (HEI), they are public or private. When internal, the problems gain specifications according to the management system of each institution. The present research focused on investigating the determinants of the socioeconomic level of the student profile of a private HEI in Amazonas and its correlation with an intention to avoidance. We chose a descriptive research, based on secondary data, besides the application of primary data from the researched sector through unstructured interviews and a questionnaire of the kind elaborated and applied to the subjects of the research. The research results point beyond the determinants found in the categories, other determinants that deserve to be investigated in greater depth, given as specificities of the course, culture and behavior of the subjects. The conclusion of the study highlights the importance of applying an instrument that characterizes the student for what later, some instruments of data collection and information can evidence as causes of avoidance. The study becomes fundamental for the development of strategies and the definitions of assertive practices in the search of organizational efficiency. The result of the evaluation is the result of a better management of the HEI and, consequently, will guarantee not only its sustainability, but mainly, meet the demands of students and society as a whole.
