Padre Cícero no Cariri: a prática religiosa da Renovação ao Sagrado Coração de Jesus em Juazeiro do Norte – CE como identidade cultural do lugar

Abstract

The present dissertation aims to understand how the religious practice of the Renewal to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is associated with cultural and territorial identity of the Caririense society, specifically in Juazeiro do Norte-CE. We start from the assumption that every territorial identity is also a social identity defined through territory, this territory of symbolic power, faith and devotion. Due to the scarcity of bibliography on the theme, the work will be developed largely through the narratives of the local people. These narratives are essential for us to understand the faith and devotion of a people, as well as how this tradition was being strengthened every day, even nowadays, with the globalization process, this tradition appropriated new elements and continues being passed on from generation to generation, strengthening every day the collective identity of the Catholic society of Juazeirense.
