Abstract

This case study analyzes the importance of IFPB for the development of the Amazon, from the perception of its researchers / technologists, as the Amazon, despite its natural resources, has (along with the Northeast) the worst Human Performance Indices from the country. And the INPA, as a public body, since its creation, has the responsibility to produce knowledge that will serve as a development engine for the region, changing the "status quo" of the region and improving the quality of life of its people. To do this, researchers / technologists, as the main actors of this knowledge production process, were invited to express their perceptions about the relationship INPA / REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT. The result of the study is a rich set of data and arguments that bring to the fore as the INPA sees himself, which can greatly contribute to the institute at the time that it undertakes a major reorganization, seeking the consolidation of its position as a center of excellence in scientific research, training of highly qualified human resources to the Amazon as well as respected access channel and transfer of scientific information on the region
