Resumo

This dissertation aimed to understand how music, as a language, manifests the sense of geography in the students of the Education of Young Adults, of the Municipal School Professor Themistocles Pinheiro Gadelha - Municipality of Manaus, Eastern District. This understanding is related to the student's perception of Brazil as a place of living, that is, as students of the EJA may be able to establish with music an approximation that makes them perceive and represent graphically through mental maps their relation to their place (Brazil). To reach this understanding we work from the perspective of Phenomenology. The research subjects were students from five groups of Eja, divided between the final years of elementary school, aged between 16 and 62 years. We emphasize that music is a new way to awaken in the subject his understanding and relation with the space that surrounds him, having in Geography the science that provides imagination and emotion to the lived world and with that it takes the individual, in several situations, depending on its state of spirit or psychological, to perceive its place in different contexts and dimensions, surfacing in the students as outstanding in the research, the perceived and represented in several songs highlighted by them, when the subject is Brazil as its place and world of the experiences, understood through subjectivity and musical culture.
