Abstract

This dissertation entitled Agroecology of the waters: Food health through the capture of Amazonian fish, which sought to analyze the agroecology of the waters in the Nossa Senhora das Graças community, in the municipality of Manacapuru-AM, according to seasonality. and identify ways of capturing fish in the community according to seasonality, classify fish and human food types according to seasonality, describe the social food diet of community members in the seasonal period and prepare a seasonal fishing calendar for January to December plus the piracema period. The field work was carried out in the Nossa Senhora das Graças Community, in the Municipality of Manacapuru/Amazonas, from October 2022 to December 2022. The research subjects were residents and fishermen of the community, subjects who work with fishing and have the traditional fishing technique. The life of the riverside caboclo is driven by the water cycle in the rivers of the Amazon. In this sense, fishing is an art! In addition to other cultural and ethnic meanings, this activity has techniques and customs that vary according to the path of the waters. The ways of capturing fish are consistent with the culture that defines them to this day, always seeking sustainable management, as well as the use of equipment that facilitates capture without great efforts, based on traditional knowledge. Talking about food is an extremely difficult task in many respects, as it indirectly includes aspects such as culture, tradition, customs, beliefs, habits, ideologies and a series of other prepositions. The fact is that in addition, there is a food chain that involves all beings in the ecosystem. However, further studies for a better understanding of the Agroecology of the waters will be necessary.
