Avaliação do gerenciamento dos resíduos sólidos urbanos no município de Coari-AM

Abstract

Result produced by various human activities, mainly in urban societies, the solid wastes are characterized as environmental phenomenon. Thus, the increasing demand for public actions and policies aimed at management of municipal solid waste has increasingly required effort of the society in its various sectors and greater involvement of federal, state, and especially local governments. The solid waste management in the state of Amazonas has walked the short distance in relation to compliance with the guidelines regulated by law, especially regarding the final disposition. In this sense, the objective of this research was to evaluate the management of municipal solid waste in the city of Coari, the Middle Solimões city in the state of Amazonas, considering the conformities, non-conformities and / or gaps established the legal framework, against the state of the art in solid waste management in the municipality. The research has a descriptive and exploratory, qualitative approach, however, the data analysis was carried out quantitatively, allowing an interdisciplinary vision of the problem. The methodology was divided into : bibliographic and documentary , characterization of the study area and instruments for data collection . The results are due to interviews with municipal solid waste management, local leaders and residents, the analyzes carried out through field visits for recognition of the area under study. At the conclusion of this study it was found that the city, despite having a system of urban sanitation, through the appropriate bodies, needs to follow the set of actions and procedures that shape local realities, to thereby define their goals and actions priority initiatives necessarily those contained in the Master Plan and the Solid Waste Management Plan prepared by the municipality, to correct for distortions and draw future scenarios, especially by improper disposal of generated waste, ineffectiveness of the existing landfill, and hence no treatment waste and lack of implementation of selective collection system, thus setting conformities with the manner provided by law.
