Resumo
The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate clinical trials that analyzed the effect of different types of physical exercise on physical fitness and lipid profile in obese and overweight adolescents. The review included randomized controlled trials with interventions of different types of exercise (aerobic, strength, combination aerobic + strength, and high-intensity interval training). The PRISMA-P and TESTEX scales were used to assess the quality of the selected studies. The protocol was registered in PROSPERO (code: CRD42023390256). Eleven studies were found, of which only five scored ≥60% for methodological quality. Most of the results presented in the studies did not qualify for meta-analysis and were evaluated qualitatively. Qualitative analysis revealed that, compared to the control group (CG), the experimental group (EG) improved when observing body weight (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), body fat percentage (%F), lipid profile (HDL-C), muscle strength and cardiorespiratory fitness. In conclusion, interventions with different types of exercises improve the general health of obese and overweight adolescents. The results of this systematic review confirm that different training models can be applied to adolescents.
