Avaliação do nível de vulnerabilidade clínico-funcional de idosos alunos e não-alunos atendidos pela policlínica da Fundação Universidade Aberta da Terceira Idade (FUnATI) em Manaus - AM

Resumo

Introduction: The identification of functional characteristics and the risk of vulnerability allow the improvement of the provision of health services for this population. Objective: To identify the level of clinical-functional vulnerability of elderly students and non-students attended by the polyclinic of the Open University Foundation of the Third Age of Manaus. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample was selected using a non-probabilistic convenience method. Data were collected from elderly patients seen from January 2017 to December 2018. The medical record contains socioeconomic, anthropometric issues and is complemented by the Functional Clinical Vulnerability Index (IVCF-20). All data were reviewed, tabulated and later coded. The STATA 14.0 software was used for statistical analysis of the data. Simple and relative absolute frequencies, and categorical data were presented using tables. For the analysis of the quantitative data, when the normality hypothesis is accepted, the mean and standard deviation were calculated. Differences in the distribution of categorical variables between groups were tested using the Chi-square test. To assess the associations of interest by controlling for possible confounding variables, Poisson's multiple regression model was used. Variables with p <0.20 were included in the univariate analysis, and those with statistical significance (p <0.05) remained in the final model, when adjusted for the other variables. A level of statistical significance of 5% was adopted in the applied tests. Results: There was a significant difference in the results between students and non-students in relation to the predictive domains of functional clinical vulnerability in the elderly. It was observed that 8.79% of students and 44.67% of non-students had a high risk of clinical-functional vulnerability. After analyzing the variables and their relationship with the risk of vulnerability, it can be said that the non-variation in mood in the elderly had a significant association with low risk of vulnerability, while high risk of vulnerability was associated with dependence in activities of daily living instrumental. Conclusion: Students who attend the activities of the Open University Foundation of the Third Age of Amazonas, had a low risk of clinical-functional vulnerability compared to non-students.
