Resumo

The present research entitled: “Ethnic and sexual identity: the alliance of indigenous university students with LGBTI + movements in the city of Benjamin Constant - AM between the years 2018 to 2020”, is aimed at elucidating an interdisciplinary approach, based on a compressive sociology by Max Weber, on the conceptions of identity, with respect to ethnic and sexual diversity, from studies of the Two Spirit movement of indigenous North American activists and the discussion of queer theories to understand in among the LGBTI+ movements in the region, and themes based on the fight for the human rights of the traditional peoples of the Amazon are necessary. In general terms, the objective was to reflect on the ethnic and sexual identity of indigenous university students in LGBTI+ movements in the municipality of Benjamin Constant in the state of Amazonas. The immersion of the theme in a specific way was guided to: a) Identify the ethnic diversity present in the Institute of Nature and Culture; b) Show the presence of LGBTI+ movements between Benjamin Constant's borders; c) Discuss the representativeness of indigenous university students during the advances and challenges of LGBTI+ movements in the region. The study was supported by a qualitative approach, without neglecting the quantitative aspects, based on the Methodological Current of Brazilian and Amazonian Social Thought, where individual and collective representations will be analyzed from a comprehensive sociology of social action evidenced in the Weberian current. The methodological aspects that aided in the understanding and description of the study, initially occurred through bibliographic and documentary research, therefore the Field Research was carried out, based on ethnographic research, with the aid of the oral history research technique. This study revealed the importance of the University as a space for strengthening identities formed in a border region and for its ethnic diversity, since the institution currently attends 08 (eight) ethnic groups, to know: Tikuna, Kokama, Kambeba, Kanamari, Marubo, Mayoruna, Kaixana and Witota. It is also worth mentioning the creation of LGBTI+ associations and parades, originating from the support of the university, which has contributed to the discussion on sexual diversity, verifying some advances, such as the records of the recognition of homosexual stable union and the use of Social Name. However, the invisibility of the LGBTI+ population is still recurrent, a consequence of the lack of public LGBTI+ health policies, failures in attendance and registration of attacks in cases of LGBT phobia, absence of public policies that promote the inclusion of the LGBTI+ population in the labor market.
