Um estudo da variação semântico-lexical do português falado nos municípios de Benjamin Constant e Tabatinga na região fronteira Brasil/Colômbia/Peru

Resumo

This research aimed to investigate the semantic-lexical variation (food and social relations) of the Portuguese spoken in the municipalities of Benjamin Constant and Tabatinga, in the border region Brazil/Colombia/Peru, in the light of Pluridimensional Dialectology and Variationist Sociolinguistics. For this, the following specific objectives were elaborated: to compare the semantic-lexical variation of the Portuguese spoken in the two municipalities with the semantic-lexical variation of the Portuguese spoken in other regions of the State of Amazonas; analyze the semantic-lexical variation according to the social stratification of the informants, controlling for the variables location, sex, age group and education, and investigate the occurrence of lexical borrowings in the Portuguese spoken in both locations, resulting from contact with the Colombian Spanish languages and Peruvian and some indigenous languages. For the development of this research, 24 residents of the two cities (12 in each) were selected, stratified according to sex, age and education. As for data collection, it was performed through the application of the Semantic-Lexical Questionnaire (Food and Social Relations) and through the free conversation record. For data analysis, the geolinguistic method was used, which consists of the presentation of linguistic data in the form of a map or geographic chart, thus generating a better visualization of the phenomenon in geographic space. With this research, it was possible to notice that some variants are of general use in Amazonas, however, there are specific lexical forms to these two locations; yet, it was possible to observe that some variants are conditioned by groups of extralinguistic factors, while other variants are not; it was also possible to know the foreignness present in the speech of the residents of the investigated region. At the end of this research, this contributes to the knowledge of Brazilian dialectal areas.
