Resumo
This research aimed at developing a method for automated selection of dendrometric equations individually for sample units (clusters) of the National Forest Inventory (NFI) in the Brazilian Amazon biome. The proposal was conducted using equations applicable to the reality of the region. Equations from literature were gathered, and the main criteria for equation selection were identified and divided into three groups related to i) the location of the cluster, ii) cluster ground data, and iii) equations characteristics. Using data computational programming, an algorithm in Python was developed for the automatic selection of equations. To test and analyze the potential of the algorithm in selecting equations, data from the National Forest Inventory in the state of Rondônia were used and 309 equations from 27 studies were analyzed, with 15 for wood volume equations, 11 for tree species biomass, and 2 for palm tree biomass. The routine selected 3 equations for the volume variable, 6 for the biomass variable, with 4 for palm trees and 2 for tree species. Through these equations, the routine estimated values ranging from 21,7907 m³.ha-1 to 231,5048 m³.ha-1 for volume and from 55,0961 t.ha-1 to 303,8594 t.ha-1 for biomass. The results found were consistent with other studies. At the end of this research, the main criteria for the automatic selection of equations were identified, as well as the areas in the region that have the greatest gaps in equations availability. This work is expected to contribute to the improvement of the selection of dendrometric equations in the context of the National Forest Inventory in other regions of the country.
