Resumo
This research aimed to analyze perspectives of solidarity and political struggle in the social field of the experiences of faith in African-related and Indigenous-related religious centers and terreiros in the city of Parintins, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. By highlighting tensions, resistances, ambiguities, conformism and sociability in a period that goes through the end of the civil-military dictatorship in the region (1964-1985) and the perspectives of the continuity of their practices after that period, this study sought to embrace workers’ experiences: people who relate and dispute, in their daily life, dimensions of religious cultures, in defense of their ways of living and believing. From oral narratives of men and women, elderly and children, indigenous and black people, this work intended to reassess urban ways of life that articulate, in the Brazilian Amazon, the belief and bet on the present time by those subjects, in memories, doings, and common knowledge that are originated from Umbanda and Pajelança.
