Resumo

Introduction: Hepatitis D virus (HDV) is an incomplete viral particle whose infectivity depends on the hepatitis B virus (HBV). HBV / HDV superinfection or co-infection increases the risk of fulminant hepatitis and promotes the development of hepatic fibrosis in these patients. In Brazil, the State of Amazonas has been considered an endemic area for hepatitis B and Delta. In this region, HDV infection is often associated with more severe forms of liver disease. Objective: This study aims to characterize the immune response and cytokine profile in patients infected with the Hepatitis Delta virus Material e Methods: For this study, biological samples were used. seventy seven peripheral blood samples were collected from untreated and treated patients diagnosed with Hepatitis Delta, attended at the Amazon Tropical Medicine Foundation - Dr. Heitor Vieira Dourado, and 50 samples were collected from blood donors from the. Hematology and Haemotherapy of Amazonas, framed as a control group. Cellular immunophenotyping, hemogram, cytokine and plasma chemokine dosages were performed by CBA (Cytometric Bead Array). Results: About 92.2% of the population present positivity for the anti-Hbe marker, a higher prevalence was observed in males. The results showed that patients undergoing treatment had leukopenia and thrombocytopenia. TLR-2 and TLR-9 expression in monocytes, CD4 + T-lymphocytes, CD8 + T cells, dendritic myelogenous mDC cells, regulatory T cells, and B1 lymphocytes, as well as increased concentrations of activated classical and activated monocytes (IL-8), CXCL-9 (MIG), CXCL-10 (IP-10), cytokines IL-6, TNF-α, IL-10, and chemokines CCL- in a patient with Delta hepatitis being treated or not, when compared to the control. Conclusion: In conclusion, our data suggest a process of active immune response, with an active pro and anti-inflammatory profile, and may be associated with the development of liver injury due to coinfection of both viruses and long-term treatment, allowing more severe forms of the disease, which opens prerogatives for the evaluation of the immune response of these patients.
