Léxico de contato: os empréstimos linguísticos em Tikuna

Resumo

The main purpose of this research was to identify lexical borrowings in Tikuna language and their possible source languages, as well as to demonstrate the linguistic processes that occurred in the incorporation of loanwords and to present a classification of the types of borrowings identified. For this purpose, we used the theoretical assumptions of Sociolinguistics, Historical Linguistics and Contact Linguistics in Appel and Muysken (2005), Campbell (2013), Thomason and Kaufman (1988) and Thomason (2001). For data interpretation, we used the borrowing scale present in Thomason and Kaufman (1988). To understand cultural aspects of the Tikuna ethnic group, we used the ethnographic studies by Goulard (2009), Oliveira Filho (1988, 2002, 2015) and Nimuendajú (1952). The data analyzed was obtained from the Diccionario ticuna-castellano by Anderson and Anderson (2016). For the linguistic analysis of the data and the establishment of criteria for identifying loanwords in the Tikuna language, our main source was the descriptive works by Montes (1994, 2004) and, as additional criteria for the identification and chronology of the loans, we also used the researches by Skilton (2017) and Bertet (2020). This master thesis thus aimed to contribute to the studies of language contact and indigenous languages in the Amazon region.
