Resumo

The world comprehension occurs through a reading of an incessant interpretation of the social contexts. This comprehension, as well as the world, is constantly changing and there is no reason for current interpretations to be stagnant by outdated analysis. To understand these discourses that move the world, it is to understand the relationships that are established in it. Discourse analysis promotes the necessary reflections to understand these relations and makes it possible to reach hidden layers where there are no written words, where exists the intangible discursive content generated by relations between power, knowledge, truth and subjectivity. The analysis of a political discourse is able to demonstrate the coercive power of those relations that act together affecting society. The analysis of two political discourses uttered by the same person at different times, allow us to ascertain whether the subject´s yesterday truth as the same as the subject´s,today truth even though there is no ideological change described in the discourse itself, since truth may suffer mutations as over time. Michel Foucault brings us concerns and contestations about the order of discourse that describes what we must consider in a discursive analysis and which methods should we consider performing that kind of investigation. In some of his works, the analysis of power and its relations among knowledge, truth and subjectivity is very evident. Based on these concepts of Foucault’s genealogy of power that we endeavor to analyze the power relations in two Arthur Virgilio Neto’s political inaugural speech. The first one occurred on January 1st, 2013, that corresponds to his second term as Manaus mayor. The second speech occurred on January 1st, 2017 that refers to his reelection as Manaus mayor. We could also perform another analysis that evidenced the modes of Arthur Virgílio Neto subjectivity, reporting whether, in case of those inaugural speeches: is the subject still the same of 2013 or not? Thus, ratifying the importance of how discourse analysis is able to question discourses of the most diverse fields of knowledge.
