Resumo

Solid waste produced in water treatment plants (WTP's) act as an environmental concern factor in relation to its treatment and final disposal. Sanitation companies must face this problem. The sludge is a byproduct in the water treatment process to be provided to a population, and the final disposal of this waste is carried out in an environmentally incorrectly. This study aims to evaluate the partial replacement of fine aggregate by the sludge produced in water treatment Ji-Paraná in the production of mortar for cement production. The methodology used in the study consisted of the collection, drying and characterization of sludge, in determining the sludge dosage, with subsequent preparation of specimens and conducting technological tests. Sludge dosages employed were in the ratios 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5% in the mixes with c/s 1: 8, 1: 7. (Cement and Sand respectively). The results indicate that the use of 5% of sludge obtained a satisfactory result, because this ratio does not occur hardening of the cementitious material. The compression strength tests indicate that the characteristic the trace (1: 7), where the amount of used sludge is less than 5% has greater compression resistance trace (1: 8) and it shows a lower water absorption. The best results compressive strength occurred with the addition in amounts lower than 4%., based on these results be noted that the sludge incorporation into such proportions makes the acceptable material for use in cementitious materials.
