This research has as general objective to analyze the social representations of violence against women, constructed by the students of Youth Education, Adults and Elderly of the Municipal Public-School Network of Manaus/AM, from the Theory of Social Representation proposed by Moscovici (2003) and from the perspective of gender studies. Specific objectives were: a) To discuss the phenomenon of violence against women and the legal provisions existing in the Brazilian legal system to curb and prevent this practice; b) Understand the universe of Youth and Adult Education and the profile of students in this type of education; c) Identify the social representations of EJA students in relation to violence against women. In relation to nature, this study is classified as exploratory and descriptive. As for the approach, this is qualitative research. As data collection instruments, the closed questionnaire was applied to the population of 127 (one hundred and twenty-seven) students and the semi-structured interview to the universe of 31 (thirty-one) students from the Zonal District Divisions (DDZ): South, West, North, South Center, East I and East II. With the research, we obtained as final results: that violence against women constitutes a social and public health problem, needing to be recognized and faced, both by civil society and by the public authorities.
