Literatura e cinema: a simbologia e a representatividade das personagens do conto de fadas Branca de Neve dos irmãos Grimm e suas adaptações cinematográficas

Abstract

The objective of the dissertation is to weave reflections between literature and cinema. The research has as corpus the short story Snow White by the Brothers Grimm, the filmic animation Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs produced by Studios Walt Disney and the cinematographic retelling of Snow White and the Huntsman by director Rupert Sanders. Chapter I addresses the procedures for comparative studies, literature and cinema and their relationships, the process of the interarts in the use of intertextuality, the creative process of adapting and rereading a work and the literary project of the Brothers Grimm. Chapter II addresses the perspective of theorists about fairy tales and the analysis of symbols, as well as the meanings of these symbolic elements present in the works chosen for the study, which were transported from a written narrative genre to an imagetic narrative genre. Chapter III deals with the female role in the evolution of fairy tales, the sampling of the myths and archetypes of the Snow White tale, the narratives that preceded and followed the Brothers Grimm version and the process of reification of women in the tales that will be presented throughout the chapter. The process of film adaptation of a literary work has the perspective of bringing to the public the clarification that an adaptation produced from a written narrative results in the creation of a new work. These adapted and rereading versions are intended to give audiences who appreciate cinema the opportunity to know that every creation is individual.
