Resumo
The thesis entitled "The vision of who stays and who goes: Alley of the Blacks – a
place in memory" aims to build the history of The Black Alley from the perspective of the
resident of the place, since the compulsory displacement of more than 50% of the residents of Beco dos Pretos occurred in 2007, due to the implementation of the Social and Environmental Program of the Manaus Igarapés - PROSAMIM, as a result of public policies aimed at housing in the municipality of Manaus. In the research we used a qualitative approach, through semi-structured interviews, bibliographic research and observation. The research was anchored in the methodology combining several methodologies, which is called "triangulation", whose objective is to cover the maximum amplitude in the description, explanation and understanding of the object of study. Using as a conceptual tool the current of human geography, supporting us in understanding this place, whose objective is to cover the maximum extent in the description, explanation and understanding of the object of study. Using as a conceptual tool the current of human geography, supporting us in understanding
this place, which, like the city, is constantly changing. The results of the research show that the displacement of part of the Beco dos Pretos community has weakened the community, not only in their social relationships, but also in the way the community relates to the place. Thus, they reveal that the neglect of the State with the history of the places and the absence of systematization with the work related to listening to communities before and during the implementation of these major urban projects, can be seen as a way of reinforcing socio spatial segregation in cities, thus causing irreversible cultural damage to the history of the places, as is the case of The Alley of the Blacks. The resignification of these places of residence on the banks of the igarapés has brought improvements in relation to structural and urban aspects, in addition to the increase of urban development indexes, but, on the other hand, they can extinguish social groups that give life to the city, losses for which there are no
values to estimate. Finally, this study made it possible to format a booklet – the final product of the research – where the history of residents narrated from different angles is recorded.
