Serviço social e velhice: perspectivas do trabalho do assistente social na articulação entre as políticas de saúde e assistência social em Manaus

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the work of the Social Services meet the demands of the elderly in the policies of health and social care in Manaus, seeking to uncover the understanding of the social worker about aging, investigate the actions, programs and projects developed by the Social Work at the elderly in health policy and social welfare in Manaus, check how the social worker related health and social care in the paradigm of health promotion and understand how social workers articulates the ethical dimension of policy and pedagogical work with the search for active aging and successful. This is a literature and applied (empirical), with emphasis on the qualitative approach, using the technical analysis of enunciation, postulated by Bardin (2011), which considers the word a production process. Using the concept of Franco (2008), the registration units were the "subject" and "character" in order that the analysis of discourse leaned in social workers interviewed about how they understand concepts about aging, health promotion, pedagogical dimension of their work and professional ethical-political project. The methodological procedures contained three interrelated phases, the first consisting of a literature review on the central categories of this research, given that a theme is emerging within the Social Service; subsequently, was conducted field research through the application of forms with open questions and open-ended to 06 social workers, who work in Basic Health Units (UBS), Comprehensive Care Centers Golden Age (CAIMI) Social Centers and Family and the Elderly in the areas north and south / west of Manaus and the third phase comprised the systematization and interpretation of data collected in the light of critical and analytical perspective. The results of this research show that old age is a challenge that is presented to Social Services because although professionals understand the need for recognition, respect and guarantee of social rights for the elderly, their actions still remain routine and pragmatic, whose size ethical-political and pedagogical work is still limited within the bourgeois citizenship, which only provides for the inclusion in certain activities and programs that are developed without conductors processes for social emancipation from the political exploitation for the exercise of social participation and thus contributing to the construction of active aging and successful, where the elderly can develop with maximum autonomy and independence their daily activities. Promoting health is another challenge for Social Service, for his performance still retains strong traces of clinical practice and individual attention, although the category empowerment (empowerment) is in line with the principles of Ethical-Political Project Professional, which offers contributions for developing a work glimpse social transformation, since education the primary mechanism of this process. We point out the need for a strategic plan of action, involving universities and among the advisory boards of the Rights of the elderly and public policies for health and social care in discussion forums that enable the exchange of analysis and construction of new possibilities for professional taking into account the movement of reality on dialectical perspective and capabilities offered by the joint support of social assistance in finding a quality of life with age.
