Avaliação de silagem do capim Mori (Paspalum fasciculatum Willd ex Flüggé)

Resumo

The objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of Mori grass (Paspalum fasciculatum) for the elaboration of silage. The experimental design used was completely randomized, with five replications, in a 3 × 3 factorial scheme, composed of three types of silages (control, with the addition of 10% ground corn based on natural material or subjected to pre-drying) and three grass maturation degrees (30, 45, and 60 days of regrowth after cutting the pattern). Simultaneously the silage production was evaluated the chemical and agronomic characteristics of Mori grass. The ensiling was carried out in PVC tubes with a capacity of 2.5 kg. After 30 days the silos were opened and subsequently analyzed dry matter (DM), crude protein (PB), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (FDA), mineral matter (MM), hydrogen potential (pH), and ammoniacal nitrogen content as a percentage of total nitrogen [N-NH3 (% N total)] of silages. In situ degradability of DM and NDF of silages and Mori grass was also evaluated. The materials were incubated in the rumen of a fistulated bovine at 72, 48, 24, 12, 6, and 0 hours. The data were analyzed by the SAS. The model considered the grass maturation effect, additive effect, and the interaction between grass maturation and additives. Comparison of silage averages was performed using the Tukey test at 5% probability. Forage production and forage height were higher for grass cut at 60 days. There was a higher DM content of the grass in the leaves and the stalk of 30 days, but a reduction in DM was observed in the stems of 45 and 60 days. The protein in all grass ages meets a minimum quality diet. As the maturation age of the grass increased, there was a reduction in the DM and CP content. The addition of ground corn in silage of Mori grass increased the DM content, decreased the FDA, and according to recommendations for good quality silage, the pH and N-NH3 / NT meet the recommended values. To pre-drying grass, the DM content of the silage increased, but there was a higher N-NH3 / NT content and pH. In the in situ degradability of both DM and NDF, the inclusion of corn increased the soluble fraction. For the ages of the grass in the silage evaluation, no changes were observed for the degradability of DM, while changes were observed in the NDF degradability for 45 and 60 days in the potentially degradable fraction and the effective degradability for passage rates 2 and 4%. Mori grass can be used for making silage.
