O Centro de Estudos de Línguas da UFAM e a formação inicial de professores de língua inglesa: um estudo de caso na disciplina estágio supervisionado

Resumo

This research intends to analyze the collaboration of the Centro de Estudos de Línguas in the initial teacher training of the students of undergraduation course in English Language and Literature at the Federal University of Amazonas. The Centro de Estudos de Línguas is a university extension project that, for thirty years, has provided the academic community and the community in general with access to affordable and quality language courses. The students of undergraduation course in English Language and Literature take supervised traineeship on the project, that constitutes a monitored space for carrying out an internship in the academic subjects. The theoretical basis of the research deals with the initial teacher training of English language teachers (COSTA, 2014; VIEIRA-ABRAHÃO, 2002; 2012 among others) in the context of university extension (NETO, 2005; PAULA, 2015; REIS, 2010 and SOUZA, 2010) and internship (BARBOSA, 2013; BORELLI, 2015; PIMENTA, 2001 and PIMENTA and LIMA, 2012). This research work follows a qualitative approach (GIL, 1989; 2002; OLIVEIRA, 2012; PAIVA, 2019 and SEVERINO, 2002) and is characterized as a case study (DUFF, 2007; CHIZZOTTI, 2006a, 2006 and YIN, 2005). The research participants were graduated students from the undergraduation course in English Language and Literature at the Federal University of Amazonas who have taken the Supervised Traineeship course at the Centro de Estudos de Línguas at UFAM. The data generation was made through document analysis and investigative questionnaire.At first, the documents analyzed revealed that the possibility of a supervised internship in extension projects provides an enrichment of the internship experience by expanding the interns' fields of action.
