“Kó si ewé kó si omi kosi òrisà” : Um estudo sobre as religiões de Manaus na perspectiva de intolerância religiosa

Abstract

The Dissertation presents a discussion about the cases that generate religious intolerance in the city of Manaus. The relevance of the theme aims to deepen the discussion of the study, as well as responding to society is advancing in sociocultural context to be more tolerant. The research aimed to identify the events that generate religious intolerance in sacred spaces, as well as discuss the idea of religious intolerance from a multicultural perspective and symbolic, stating what they think the religious leaders on the issues of intolerance and list the main occurrences of cases which arouse intolerance in the city of Manaus. The methodological procedures were of a qualitative nature and the identification of the participants occurred through intentional sampling, to contemplate a modern theme. As instruments were conducted structured interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis was performed by means of content analysis. It appeared in the results, although the study presenting a high index of religious intolerance in the name of African matrix, specifically to the candomblé ceremony, other religions such as Catholicism, Pentecostalism and Judaism are also victims of religious intolerance in society. Although the society is more advanced in the sociocultural discussions, there is still a long way to go to achieve religious freedom through an education for diversity. The religious leaders and practitioners crave an education geared to tolerance, to society calls for an education for diversity, and the victims of aggression and violence are fighting for equality. From these results, we can conclude that society needs to be educated to the coexistence of diversity, taking care of the dialog and opening up new possibilities for freedom of expression for the equality between the religious denominations can become peaceful, free from prejudices before the plurality that exists in our country.
