A língua Ye’pá Mahsã como linguagem e prática social: inter-relação entre língua, cultura e diversidade sociocultural na sede do Distrito de Taracuá, São Gabriel da Cachoeira-AM

Abstract

This work aims to reflect on the linguistic policies imposed among the Ye'pá Mahsã of the indigenous community of Taracuá, in the municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira -AM, since the arrival of the colonizer in the Northwest Amazon, when these people were forced to speak the Portuguese Language, to be indoctrinated and later assume a different cultural and linguistic identity, as foreseen by the integrationist policies of Brazil. Given this concern, the research aimed to analyze the importance of the phenomenon of the Ye'pá Mahsã language in the interrelationship between language, culture and sociocultural diversity, to identify the degree of use of the Ye'pá Mahsã and Portuguese languages in the community of Taracuá and in which space the Ye'pá Mahsan language is most commonly spoken. For this understanding, it was necessary to contextualize the origin of the Ye’ pá Mahsã people in the perspective of knowing the mythological process that narrates the emergence of the first man, humanity and the indigenous languages spoken in the Uaupés region. Regarding the valorization and preservation of the Ye'pá Mahsã language, a study was carried out on the language policies established before and after the promulgation of the Federal Constitution of 1988, Law No. 145/2002 that co-officialized the indigenous languages Nheengatu, Tukano, Baniwa and Law No. 084/2017 that co-officialized the Yanomami language. Thus, the work was of an ethnographic nature in communion with the qualitative approach that guided the entire course of the research.
