Resumo

The research analyzed the constitution of the student council as an instance of participation in school management in the context of the Centro Educacional de Tempo Integral (CETI) in the municipality of Humaitá-Amazonas. The construction process of this work was based on a qualitative approach and aimed to understand the implementation process of the student council and its role in school management. The study started with an analysis of the educational policies since the 1990s, deepened the foundations of democratic management with an emphasis on the creation and operation of student councils in Amazonas state public schools, characterized the process of creating and the current configuration of the student council at CETIs, and focused the research on the forms of implementation and participation of the council in school management at CETI/Humaitá AM. It was a qualitative approach developed through documentary research, in which the documents were selected according to youth public educational policies and their relationship with the object of study. After selecting the documents, the authors who discuss the democratic management and its mechanisms of participation, highlighting the collegiate body of the student council and its role in school management, were researched and selected. The research highlighted the national and state laws and their indications for student participation in school management, from the planned actions to the execution process. The results indicated that the spaces for learning and development need to progress so that young people feel part of this totality. According to the analysis of the CETI/Humaitá-AM documents, it was observed that there are still fragments in school management that configure the absence of dialogues and the guarantee of spaces for discussion that include the student council. As for results, it was noticed that the student movement needs to materialize its prominent place in the school and society, its role needs to be linked to the development of young people in the reflective issues of pedagogical, political, and social areas, which can solidify the democratization of schools.
