"Há esperança na rua da amargura?": população em situação de rua na cidade de Manaus

Abstract

The large presence of people inhabiting the streets of Brazilian cities is a reality that has been drawing attention and can not be disassociated from the intense changes in the workplace and in the State. In this scenario, are people living on the streets and that, deprived of giving dignity to human beings, such as work, home, family, seeking the public space fill the gaps that were granted them, either by excluding social system or a path existential vicissitudes. Thus, this research aims to analyze the road situation as an expression of social issues in the city of Manaus and the actions of social assistance policy developed their face in order to investigate the social trajectory of people to the streets and their strategies survival and know the actions of assistance policy offered by public and religious institutions, from the perspective of users and engineers. The methodological procedures included three phases, interconnected: first, the literature review on the main categories of research; second, field research, which included the application forms with open and closed questions to people on the street and interview guide with the coordinators of the institutions and, third, the systematization and analysis of data collected in the light of dialectical paradigm. The survey results showed that Manaus is no different from other capitals, given the significant number of people inhabiting the streets. In them, develop new social relationships, survival strategies and remain for reasons ranging from unemployment, depression, family conflicts, alcohol / drugs, the latter stands out, and despite the institutional responses, it became clear, the from the perspective of engineers, that there are certain fractures in the joint network that makes up the shares of assistance policy, which is a challenge that confronts this expression of the social question.
