Amazônias em rede: representações em disputa no Twitter acerca da questão indígena na Amazônia

Abstract

The notion of social construction of the Amazon concept and its native peoples from exogenous visions represents the foundation of the reflections proposed in this work, entitled “Networked Amazonias: representations in dispute on Twitter about the indigenous issue in the Amazon. Reinforced over the centuries by the assumption of the status of an official institutionalized version of history, this vision remains present, although sometimes reworked, in postmodern discourses on the indigenous issue in the Amazon, not only in textbooks, in the press and in speeches political as before, but also in the representations elaborated and disseminated by several other actors in the network society. In this process, the virtualization of relationships and the emergence of mass self-communication through the internet is an important aspect to be observed and analyzed as an increasingly prominent arena of symbolic disputes for the prevalence over the representations elaborated and disseminated without any geographical or temporal frontier by the participants of the networks established there. Based on these assumptions, the present research aims to analyze representations in virtual social networks and to identify actors and feelings expressed there about the indigenous issue in the Amazon, primarily from messages disseminated through the social media platform Twitter, collected and analyzed systematically from August to November 2019. These representations were marked by the media agency in defining the issues reflected in the interactions, as well as by the predominance of the association between indigenous issues and the idea of ​​the Amazon as a place in the world by actors external to the region, strongly linked to environmental issues.
