Resumo
The present work aimed to study the pericope of Matthew 15:21-28, within the literary block of Matthew 15, with special attention to the literary and rhetorical-discursive strategies present in the text. Therefore, the central theme of this research focused on the strategies used by Jesus and the Canaanite woman as speakers (rhetorical-discursive analysis) and as characters (literary analysis), as they appear in the text of the narrative. To do this, it first sought to present the Bible in a literary perspective. Thus, it evoked the recognition of some theorists to the literary value of the Bible to validate this text for the intended analysis. The work is anchored, mainly, in Eagleton, in his critique of the concept of literature, in addition to authors like Auerbach and Alter, the two main theorists cited in the work to support the reading of the Bible through a literary prism. A theoretical basis was also sought in Aristotle, the father of rhetorical systematization. As well as Fiorin, who served to didactically organize the rhetorical-discursive analysis of the text. We still count on other authors that complement our research. Therefore, in the formulation of this work, a method that is in agreement with what was proposed to be achieved was adopted, the bibliographic review method being chosen. We conclude that it is undeniable the relevance of the Bible not only as an extremely significant academic study material, but also as a text that serves readers interested in the pure literary reading.
