Study the genesis of the Brazilian Social Thought and Amazon, through a sociology analysis of the works and speeches of intellectuals of the first half of the twentieth century, as Álvaro Maia, assists in the process of clarification of own current social thought. Álvaro Maia, journalist, writer, lawyer and politician, became even in the first decades of the twentieth century intellectual and political leadership, to embody the ideas and desires change expected by various social sectors facing a crisis scenario. However, its role as a professional politician over four decades, also reveals an intellectual project, common to many intellectuals of the peripheral countries of this period, in addition to forging the nation sought to understand the process of modernization in peripheral countries. So when making an itinerary of Álvaro Maia ideas during his time as intervenor in the Estado Novo, it was possible to understand that from their intellectual condition, Maia became an ideologue of the Vargas regime. However, the production of literary work of Maia can not be reduced as a mere strategy to acquire symbolic capital lost in the political field, as a representative of the movement of Caboclitude Álvaro Maia, as well as other Amazônia writers sought, through his works, build a truly cabocla identity. The tapper, one of the central characters in his work, was exalted by his strength and valor, symbolizing the true agent of development in the region. Though, as a member of the conservative classes was an ambiguity of their part in treating the extractive model, representing an understated way, as in the case of the character Fabio Moura in Beiradão 1956. After the 1930s, Álvaro Maia goes through a process improvement and debugging of its political professionalization, as a new state representative acted as an ideologist of the regime. Although, despite his charisma and connection with the Vargas government, its permanence only happened because their line with the interests of the local elite. Therefore, policy resonances in alvareana literature reveal how this intellectual, representing the nativist movement, via the construction of the Amazon identity by exploiting the native element, could not stay only in terms of ideas, but would mainly political activity.
