Aplicação de uma cartilha funcional domiciliar durante a pandemia COVID-19 em idosos domiciliados: um estudo longitudinal

Resumo

Objective: Provide guidance on the prevention of falls and immobility in elderly people in social isolation during the COVID-19 Pandemic through the delivery of a functional exercise booklet in the city of Coari, in the interior of Amazonas, Brazil. Method: This is a cross-sectional study, a functional exercise booklet for falls prevention was applied, containing squats, knee and hip flexion/extension, hip adduction/abduction, plantar flexion and ankle dorsiflexion, two home visits were carried out for guidance on its use, during the month of April and May 2021, following all health and biosafety standards for prevention of COVID-19. Results: 54 elderly people aged 60 years and over were found evaluated in 2019 before the COVID-19 Pandemic and followed throughout the pandemic until March 2021. Conclusion: The elderly reported that when they received the functional exercise booklet and performing the exercises feel more supported and that they were not forgotten in this difficult moment of the pandemic, especially those who had contact with the COVID virus19; from the functional point of view, they report that after performing the exercises they are feeling better with more energy and that they will continue using the booklet at home.
