Resumo
Several studies point to the potentiality of traditional knowledge and/or local ecological knowledge developed by the caboclo-ribeirinhas populations of the State of Amazonas. The contributions that ethno-ecological data can provide to the management and sustainability of natural resources are important tools for community empowerment as well as for the analysis of interactive systems between human species and fauna. And, the analysis of the historical records that deal with the construction of the preterite Amazon brings to light the signs engendered in the cultural traits practiced by populations living on the banks of rivers. In this research, it was sought to analyze the Sociocultural Practices of Management and Conservation of chelonians in a Sustainable Development Reserve based on the analysis of ethno-ecological and habitus knowledge. The sustainability of these practices was also evaluated through the bias of the social organization established in this community, as well as policies and actions developed in this context. For this, qualitative interviews were conducted with a group of fishermen and techniques were made possible to learn the necessary information from this context. The results of this research elucidate the practices of use and forms of chelonian use in the community researched, in which allusion is made to the ways of life inherited from the previous Amazon, as well as showing that the social organization of this community has its own local rules of use and modes of conservation and management, cultural of those who are fishermen. It is concluded that the valorization of caboclos-ribeirinhos should occur through the understanding that conservation practices have socio-cultural roots that need to be perceived as such, and the non-recognition of these practices implies the overlapping of conservation and management systems that can subjectivethe ethno-local identity.
